[Video Post] Balance Is a Myth in Today’s Life

0:00 Hi everyone. I realized that I’m not a fan of the word balance, and we try to use it often. Even I caught myself that once in a while, when I have to congratulate someone with a birthday, I might say something like, “I wish you kind of having more balance in your life”, when I know that the person might be either working too much or, you know, be having conflicting priorities in life, and struggling because of that. Uhm, another option where we use this word is work-life balance, and I think I’ve, I’ve already sent a message out there with previous content and some messages and blog posts that I’m opposed to work-life balance as a term because we have only one life, and it’s fluid, and it’s happening every second.

0:52 So, uhm, having these two parts separate constantly is not what’s gonna make us happy. Right? Because it almost means that while you’re working, you are one thing, and then, and then, a life happens.

1:10 Your work is also your life. And as soon as you realize that, as soon as you accept it, as soon as you embrace your work-life as your life, your life, then that you control, that you own, then maybe you would have either better results or a completely different job.

1:28 I don’t know, but it has to be with more ease, and it has to be more unique and more natural to you to live your life in every, every second. Uhm, but getting to the word balance, I somehow don’t believe that it honestly exists in our lives.

1:50 And when I’m thinking of balance, I’m imagining these pictures from, you know, the photo stock where there is, there There are like stones in balance.

2:00 In some kind of towers or, you know, on the platform, there are balancing, uhm, balance is when there are two parts that are mathematically, mathematically equal, right?

2:17 So the weight, for example, of those stones. Uhm, has to be perfectly balanced. And things in balance, when you imagine something in balance, it’s so static.

2:30 It’s almost, it’s almost still because it’s in balance. And life is not happening like that. Life is not happening like that.

2:43 Life is crazy. We cannot predict what’s going to happen tomorrow. We cannot predict what’s going to happen in the next five minutes in this world.

2:52 There is no balance in this meaning of something being so perfectly stable and so perfectly balanced. It’s today, I have, something happened at my work, and my boss is at my ass of, I don’t know, launching a new service.

3:16 So my work would be so much heavier on the scale. Because this is my priority. But then the weekend comes and I’m prioritizing myself because I want to switch off, I want to tune off, I want to recover, and I want to spend time with my family.

3:31 My family life, my, the time with my partner, walking in the park. This is where balance goes off, right? And life is like this, it’s constantly changing, and we are shifting our focus from one thing to another.

3:51 So, of course, we could say that life is a balancing act, right? Life is a balancing act because we don’t want to stick on one side with either, you know, working on the lunch of our service for 24-7, or it’s quite of a luxury, but, yeah, spending the whole time with your family may be also not an option

4:14 for a lot of us. So, life is a balancing act because we want to keep focusing on focus on one thing and then another and have a holistically full life.

4:28 But I think when we are speaking about the balance, often we bring a false target of this stillness of having balance.

4:40 Balance in the moment, and I think that’s not about the balance that I would want. I want to be the same fluid, and I want to have speed, and I want to react to life in the best way that needs a lot of agility from me, right?

4:58 It needs a lot of agility from me. I cannot afford it. I can’t be still. I’m bored when I’m still, and this mathematical balance between all of the areas of our lives is almost impossible at one time, in one moment.

5:14 So, what I let’s keep it fluid. Let’s keep it fluid, and that is okay.

5:25 When you would need to focus on one thing for the whole month because this is your priority, like your health or the health of your family, this is what are you doing.

5:37 And, you know, sometimes it doesn’t matter that other things are out of balance. It’s either our choice, or our coping mechanism, or the reality of life, and it is OKAY.

  1. “Wow, this perspective really resonates! Life truly isn’t about achieving some perfect, static balance—it’s about staying fluid and adaptable. The idea that life is more like a constant balancing act, shifting priorities as needed, feels much more realistic and empowering. I love how you challenge the traditional notion of ‘work-life balance’ and emphasize embracing our whole life as one interconnected flow. It’s such a refreshing mindset, especially in today’s unpredictable world. Thank you for sharing this thoughtful and inspiring take!”
