Why I Wrote a Self-Coaching Book (Even Though I Never Wanted to Be an Author)

I never aspired to become an author, but I had my reasons to write a book about coaching.

For almost 10 years, I have worked as a coach with people from diverse backgrounds and across different continents, in various industries, and at different career stages. Sometimes, I couldn’t help but notice that people have all the answers inside them, yet tend to listen more carefully to others, sometimes being blinded by some else’s definition of success or getting pressured by social expectations. As a coach, though, I believe that each of us has a unique path, and my role is to help you find the confidence and strengths within your inner resources to walk that path successfully, in your own style and pace.

We need to stay true to the course of our lives, to what we know matters most to us, and I wish that each of us discovers the answers to those most meaningful questions without the outside noise of social pressure and FOMO. Questions like:

  • “What is success to me?”
  • “What do I already do well?”
  • “What do I want? Why do I want this? Will it make me happy? How do I know this: is it because it holds a deep value to me, or because someone else “sold” me this vision of happiness?”

Coaching power lies in the mastery of asking the right questions, and I know how hard it is sometimes to sit and talk to yourself with full honesty. That is why when you work with a coach, you may notice how their simple yet powerful question can shift the way you thought about that challenging issue you couldn’t have dealt with for a year. It is not that we are not capable of asking ourselves a good question. Yet we are consistently preoccupied with so many worries, mundane thoughts, the judgment of others, comparisons of our lives with theirs, and our own interpretations of how others might be judging us, that we forget to connect with our own core needs and values.

So, because I might not be physically able to coach each and every one of you (I wish I could, and please email me at olya@yourown.coach if you’d like to talk) I wrote a book that has my guidance on every page to support you in shaping your own practice of connecting with yourself. You can create your own self-coaching routine, and you can construct the process and progress on your own terms – no coaching sessions, no calendar invites, just you and a reflection guide that only needs 5-10 min of your time.

What’s inside the book:

  • 20 short daily self-coaching prompts with questions and reflection instructions
  • A science behind every exersice in simple words
  • Tools to build clarity, confidence, and self-trust
  • A routine you can return to whenever you feel stuck
